CAPE MAY — Climb aboard the Cape May – Lewes Ferry as it is transformed into a pirate ship! On Sept. 28, the Valhallas Pirates will present historical and theatrical entertainment for both children and adults. Their mission is to educate the public regarding the Golden Age of Piracy (life on the high seas, manner of dress, speech, common knowledge and skills, weapons, tools, and ship’s crew organization during the years 1670-1730).
The Valhallas Pirates teach the differences between pirates, privateers, and ordinary sailors and their impact on history. They believe that history can not only be interesting but also it can be fun.
“The Valhallas Pirates offer a realistic portrayal of pirates that shouldn’t be missed!” says Jennifer Shivers, customer service supervisor at the Cape May – Lewes Ferry. “Having this show aboard the Ferry makes this experience that much more memorable and we especially look forward to seeing all the children dressed in their favorite pirate gear.”
The crew is scheduled to perform two shows in the DeBraak Lounge aboard the MV Twin Capes. For customers boarding in Cape May, a show will take place on the 2:30 p.m. departure while Lewes patrons will enjoy the same performance on the 4:15 p.m. sailing. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the crossing.
Tickets cost $18.00 for adults, $15.50 for children ages 6-13 and $9.00 for children 5 years and younger. This includes the round-trip foot passage and the performance by Valhalla’s Pirates.
