County Library Hosts Lecture on Vineyards
The Cape May County Library invites the public to the lecture, “From the Vineyard to the Wine Glass” given by Joe Alvarez. The lecture will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Grapevines are fairly adaptable plants, growing in a wide variety of soil types and flourishing around the globe. Although there are over 10,000 documented varieties only about 3,500 are cultivated. Over 200 varieties are regionally significant and a mere dozen are commercially popular and widely known to consumers. Come and see what lies in your own backyard by learning about the vines and vineyards of Cape May County. A brief description of the basic how to grow grape varieties will be the topic. Following the library presentation, the audience is invited to a tour of Natali Vineyards.

County Library Offers Mosaic Workshop
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the workshop, “Create a Mosaic Pendant” with Michele Pasciullo. This two-day workshop will take place on Nov. 15 and 22 at 1 p.m. at the Sea Isle City Library, 4800 Central Avenue, Sea Isle City.
Create a piece of “wearable art” by using the technique of mosaic to fashion a unique pendant. With bits of stained glass, mirror, beads and other interesting materials, use your imagination to design a pendant that is a reflection of your own personality. The first week, you will discuss materials, design and glue for your project. In the second week, you will grout, polish and attach a cord so it will be ready to wear or give as a gift.

County Library Hosts Interpretive Nature Walks
The Cape May County Library invites the public to join monthly interpretive nature walks. The Nov. program on Nov. 16 will feature “Trees in Winter” with Sam Wilson of the Nature Center of Cape May. The program will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Upper Cape Library, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg.
The Nature Center of Cape May will present a nature walk series for all ages on the third Saturday of each month through March 2014. This month, Wilson will focus on the effects of winter on our trees. There will be a limited quantity of binoculars available, therefore, participants are asked to bring their own binoculars to the walks.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the demonstration, “Cape Cuisine: One Pot Cooking” with Chef Mark Kalla at 1 p.m. on Nov. 16. The Cape May County Library is hosting a crochet class, “Crochet a Stuffed Snowman” taught by Jennifer Bolton. This four-week class will take place on Mondays at 1 p.m. starting Nov. 18th at the Lower Cape Library, 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas. This is a fun decoration that will be ready in time for the holidays! Participants will learn how to crochet in the round, decreasing and increasing and how to chain and single crochet. County Library Hosts Lecture on the Pinelands
The Cape May County Library invites the public to the lecture, Protecting Pinelands Waters, given by Rich Bizub of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance. The lecture will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Main Library, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
The streams, wetlands and aquifers of the Pinelands are the “green infrastructure” without which the ecosystem would die, agriculture would become impossible and millions of residents and tourists would lose their water supply. This presentation illustrates the region’s water resources and explains how the distinctive nature of the Pine Barrens waters sustains the unusual plant and animal communities of this extraordinary ecosystem. The talk focuses on the threats our water resources face today from human exploitation and contamination. Discussion will also include the ways New Jersey and its citizens can protect Pinelands waters to serve both the natural landscape and sustainable human uses.

Light up the winter evening with this festive snowflake mosaic light box. Using a Krafty Blok as the base, participants will create a mosaic snowflake design with stained glass pieces. Geared toward the Kindle Fire and the novice user, learn how to get the most out of your Kindle. We’ll go over the basics of navigation as well as learn how to download library books. Please feel free to bring your own Kindle, and we will have several types on hand for demonstration.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Picasa Basics” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 10:00 am on Dec. 19. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Picasa is a free software program that helps you organize and edit your photos. We’ll go over the basics so that you can make your favorite photos better, and share them with friends.

The program will take place at the Main Branch of the Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Come in and learn some basic functionality of the iPad, as well as look into tips, tricks, and shortcuts that will benefit everyone, from the novice to the expert. Please note that we will not be providing iPads, but you are free to bring your own to follow along and learn.

County Library Hosts Interpretive Nature Walks
The Cape May County Library invites the public to join monthly interpretive nature walks. This month will feature “Animal Signs and Tracks” presented by Sam Wilson of the Nature Center of Cape May at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 21st. The program will take place at the Upper Cape Branch Library located at 2050 Route 631 in Petersburg.
The Nature Center of Cape May will present a nature walk series for all ages on the third Saturday of each month, from October through March. This month, Sam will focus on animal tracks and signs. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars. There will be a limited quantity available.

The Cape May County Library will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 23. The program will take place at the Lower Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore rd. in Villas.
Blood donation is a simple four step process: registration, medical history and mini-physical, donation and refreshments.
