Two Scoops and a Story

By Sponsored Content

The Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company is partnering with The Henry Sawyer Inn and The Vanilla Bean Creamery to offer a fun event for the whole family, “Two Scoops and a Story,” on Tuesday, June 30 from 3:00.-4:00 at the Inn, located at 722 Columbia Avenue, Cape May.
For over 25 years, ELTC has presented its popular “Tales of the Victorians” once a week during the summer at various locations. Barbara Morris, owner of The Henry Sawyer Inn and her sister, Jane, came up with the idea of serving homemade ice cream and cookies at their “Tales” presentation. Dishing up her own delicious ice cream is Jo Ann Assenheimer, owner of The Vanilla Bean Creamery. To accommodate various schedules, this special “Tales” is not on the usual Thursday at 4:00.
While guests enjoy these tasty treats, Gayle Stahlhuth will read selections from L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz.” Stahlhuth has read tales on porches from the very beginning of “Tales of the Victorians,” and performed with, and wrote shows for ELTC even before becoming artistic director in 1999.
For reservations, call The Henry Sawyer Inn at 609-884-5667. Tickets $10 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under.
On ELTC’s mainstage is “Mr. Lincoln” by Herbert Mitgang, starring Tom Byrn, and directed by Stahlhuth. Shows run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:30, with a Q&A on June 26. For tickets/information, 884-5898, e-mail eastlynneco@aol.com, or online at eastlynnetheater.org.
The regular schedule of Thursdays at 4:00 for “Tales of the Victorians” is prior to and after our “Two Scoops and a Story.” Part of this schedule includes June 25 at The Blue Rose Inn and Restaurant with Bruce Andrews; and July 9 at The Chalfonte Hotel with Suzanne Longacre. For complete list of dates, locations and performers, go to ELTC’s website.
