OCEAN CITY – The 16th Annual Trail of Two Cities 5K Walk & Run from Ocean City to Somers Point, NJ takes place on Sat., Nov. 5 starting at 8 a.m. Proceeds from the event will raise money for the Somers Point Foundation for Education, along with Ocean City Children’s Programs.
The 5K Walk & Run will begin at the Transportation Center in Ocean City, located at 10th Street and Haven Avenue, blazing a new trail as it continues along the new 52nd Street Causeway connecting Ocean City to Somers Point, and proceeds through the site of the former Somers Point Circle to Somers Point’s Kennedy Park and the finish line. The entire course will be police patrolled, and the 52nd Street Causeway will be closed to vehicles from 8-9:30 a.m. during the race.
Race participants will compete for medals in the following age groups during the race: under 9 years, 9-11 years, 12-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years and 70 years and older. Awards will also be give to the fastest overall male and female. The Trail of Two Cities awards ceremony will take place at Kennedy Park after all participants have completed the course. Refreshments will also be available at the conclusion of the race.
The pre-registration fee for the race is $20 per person if received by Fri., Oct. 28. The first 300 pre-registrants will receive a souvenir T-shirt; and additional pre-registrants will receive shirts while supplies last. Day-of-race registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Ocean City Transportation Center, located at 10th and Haven Avenue, and is $25 per person.
Families of up to four can register for a discounted rate of $60 for the group; however separate registration forms are required for each family participant and all registration forms must be mailed together.
Buses at Kennedy Park in Somers Point will be available to transport runners/walkers to Ocean City to register and/or start the race. Buses will also be available to transport participants who need to return to Ocean City at the conclusion of the race and awards ceremony.
