THIS WEEKEND: Polar Plunge, Art Show, & Dance Party

Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out some of the Cape May County fun set to take place!
Art on Asbury “Hues of Yellow” Show
Friday, February 14th from 6 to 7:30 pm
Where: Ocean City Fine Arts League – 608 Asbury Ave, Ocean City
In order to add some brightness and sunshine to the winter days, The Ocean City Fine Arts League invites all artists to submit up to two entries for the February Show, themed “Hues of Yellow” competition and exhibition. Maximum size is 50 united inches (length + width). Entry fee is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Entries are accepted in all mediums and can reflect any theme. Entries can be dropped off Jan. 31 through Feb. 5.
There will be a “Meet The Artist” reception and awards presentation Feb. 14 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public and the show runs through the end of February.
Annual Children’s Tea
Saturday, February 15th from 2 to 4 pm
Where: The Ocean City Historical Museum – 1735 Simpson Ave, Ocean City
The Ocean City Historical Museum invites the community to its Annual Children’s Tea Feb. 15, 2014 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Museum. This year’s theme is “F is for Fashion.” This event is perfect for children 5-9 years old. Come learn about a proper Victorian Tea, do arts and crafts and most of all enjoy an afternoon tea!

Great Backyard Bird Count
Saturday, February 15th from 10 to 11:30 am
Where: Two Mile Beach Unit of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge – 12001 Pacific Ave, Wildwood Crest
The Great Backyard Bird Count, sponsored by Cornell University and Audubon, is an annual event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent. Anyone can participate, from beginning bird watchers to experts. It’s free, fun, and easy—and it helps the birds.
The walks will last approximately one hour, depending on weather conditions and turnout. Some easy walking will be involved, so wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Dress for the weather, but heavy rain or snow will cancel the event. This is a great family activity, so bring the kids. Free loaner binoculars and field guides (bird books) will be provided. Sober Valentine Dance Party
Saturday, February 15th from 8 to 11:30 pm
Where: North Wildwood Recreation Center – 10th & Central Aves, North Wildwood
Plenty of dancing, music, fun, food, fellowship, and special prizes. “Sharing The Freedom of Sobriety at the Jersey Shore”, this event is sponsored by the Twelfth Step House Entertainment/Special Events Committee.
Mike’s Seafood 6th Annual Polar Bear 5K Run & Walk for Autism
Sunday, February 16th from 12 to 3 pm
Where: Oceanfront Promenade, Sea Isle City
On Sunday, February 16, the Mike’s Seafood 6th Annual Polar Bear 5K Run and 1.5-Mile Walk for Autism will bring Sea Isle City’s 20th Annual Polar Bear Plunge Weekend to a dramatic close as thousands of runners and walkers gather to raise funds and awareness for a disorder that affects 1 out of 88 children.
The Run and Walk for Autism will begin at 12 noon along Sea Isle City’s oceanfront Promenade. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join this family-friendly event, which benefits Autism Speaks, special services schools, autism support groups and families with special-needs children.

Grand Slam Breakfast
Sunday, February 16th from 8 am to noon
Where: Cape Island Masonic Lodge # 30 – 1105 Seashore Road, Lower Township
Cape Island Masonic Lodge # 30 will be holding a Grand Slam Breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1105 Seashore Road, Lower Township. Cost is $7.00 for adults and children under 7 are free. Come early and enjoy a great breakfast and a good time. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
