AVALON – “So…Who’d of thought that the Lions Club of Avalon would be the ‘rockinest’ spot on the Jersey Shore? Apparently, all of these folks! Thanks Avalon for the great night!” That’s what the BSTREETBAND posted on their Facebook page (with video) right after their concert on July 26, 2014 at the Avalon Community Center.
With a sellout crowd of over 700 people, the Avalon Lions Club, with a ton of help from the Avalon Borough and the recreation center staff lead by Sue Ellenberg and many dedicated volunteers, threw the largest party Avalon has seen in quite a while. The result was over $15,000 raised for the Family Promise of Cape May County.
“We were thrilled with this first annual Avalon Lions summer Charity Concert,” said Jim Collins president of the Avalon Lions after the concert. “The BSTREETBAND was great, the people really enjoyed themselves and best of all, we were able to raise a very large sum of money for Family Promise of CMC! We had terrific support from the community, businesses and volunteers. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year on Saturday, July 25, 2015 for the second concert in the annual series featuring the ‘Landsharks’, the only authentic Jimmy Buffett tribute Band!”
