RIO GRANDE – Enjoy Sunday Night at the Movies Sept. 21 at The Branches, next to St. Mary’s Thrift Shop, behind Family Dollar on Rt. 47 at N. 2nd St & E. Vermont Ave, Rio Grande at 7 PM to see “”Something the Lord Made,” a film based on a true story about a white surgeon, Alfred Blalock and his black assistant Vivien Thomas, who teamed up in the 1940s to develop procedures to save children suffering from heart defects. But Thomas’ status as a second class citizen prevented him from getting recognition, as Blalock took all the credit. This film is not rated.
There is no charge for the movie and the evening is open to everyone. Movie goers can bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and enjoy a discussion after the movie.
