STONE HARBOR – The Borough of Stone Harbor will hold a weekly flag-lowering ceremony on the bay each Tuesday in August.
The Stone Harbor Sunset Ceremony Celebration, held at 7 p.m. each Tuesday through Aug. 30, will take place at the 80th Street Marina. Visitors and locals are encouraged to take part in the event as the flag is lowered at sunset.
Entertainment is provided by Jamie Ratchford of the Quietman Man Band and refreshments are available. The flag is lowered over the borough’s scenic bay as the sun sets by Boy Scout Troop 65 from Court House who takes part in the flag lowering ceremony each week.
Stone Harbor Tourism Director Joann DelVescio says “what an awesome experience for our residents and visitors to enjoy the most spectacular sunsets while enjoying some great music and watching our Boy Scouts pay honor to our flag”. The scouts from Troop 65 are so proud to be a part of this event each week as everyone sings God Bless America and Taps is played. You can’t beat the photo opportunity as many families set up to have portraits taken.”
