Stone Harbor Plans Holiday Celebration

Stone Harbor — The Borough of Stone Harbor is excited to welcome visitors to their annual Holiday Celebration Friday and
Saturday Nov. 23 and 24. Stone Harbor’s Island Holiday is two days of jam-packed entertainment and shopping within the downtown district down 96th Street, Second and Third avenues.
Friday includes entertainment beginning at 11 a.m. on the 96th Street stage. At 1 p.m. visitors can find the Stone Harbor Paw Prints Pet Parade down the 200 and 300 block with families parading their pooches in their Christmas best. At 5:30 p.m. they’ll find Island Holiday Music playing in preparation for our unveiling of the Holiday Sand Sculpture.
The forecast is also calling for a 100 percent chance of snow on 96th Street as merchant’s unload Holiday Cheer at the Stone Harbor Hospitality Night from 6 to 9 p.m. The 2012 Holiday Hospitality Night will include light refreshments and goodies from the merchants, Christmas Island entertainment and visitors will be invited to roast S’mores along 96th Street. The chamber encourages folks to check their “Christmas Island” Theme in the many shop windows.
Saturday is full of Stone Harbor traditions with the annual Stone Harbor Women’s Club Toys for Tots Breakfast. Bring an unwrapped toy and receive a holiday character meet and greet and continental breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. Live entertainment will continue all day on the 96th Street stage beginning at 11 a.m. and the day will cumulate with the Stone Harbor Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m.
Opportunities to visit Santa will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Stone Harbor Fire House and again after the parade at Coffee Talk, 299 97th Street. Ornament making at Just Bead It and Cooking Demo courtesy of Seashore Ace are just a few of the many specialty things to do provided by area merchants on Saturday.
Costumed Meet and Greet Characters street side, Breakfast with Frosty at Coffee Talk from 8 to 11 a.m. and photo opportunities all over town are only some of the many festivities being held on both days. The Stone Harbor Island Holiday is being sponsored by the the Borough of Stone Harbor that works in conjunction with the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
