Seven Mile Singers make the grade

By On Deck Staff

The Seven Mile Island Singers really mean it when they advertise: “You Ring…We’ll Sing.”
They are a group of volunteers who just love to sing, according to their leader, Jack Stoner, a retired two-star army general. Living up to their slogan, they do their program at various places throughout Cape May County, including nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, Stone Harbor events, and veteran homes, to name a few.
Recently, they appeared before AARP Chapter 710 of Sea Isle City. The Singers presented a medley of tunes from the 1920s to the 1980s, including some Mummers songs, featuring Bill Burns, who wore a costume while he strutted his stuff.
The group just completed their fourth year together and are always looking for new members. Anyone interested may attend rehearsals on Tuesdays, 4 p.m. at the Stone Harbor Fire House, 96th and 2nd Ave. For more information, call 609-368-7245.
