CAPE MAY – The gauntlet is thrown and challenges abound in Cape May during Sherlock Holmes Weekend, Fri. through Sun., March 16-18, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s master sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, and his partner, Dr. Watson, join forces to solve a baffling new mystery for 2012 during a weekend of intrigue in “Sherlock Holmes and the Trial of Moriarty’s Challenge.”
While the full weekend packages are sold out, tickets are still available for the Search for Clues Tour Sat., March 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Gather the evidence you need as you explore Victorian Cape May and unravel the clues to solve the crime. You’ll tour the interiors of a selection of Cape May’s Victorian treasures where you’ll uncover clues and complete your answer sheet. The Search for Clues Tour is $15 per person. Anyone completing an answer sheet is eligible to win the Sherlock Holmes Weekend $250 grand prize and need not be present to win.
Also during Sherlock Holmes Weekend, the East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC) presents “Sherlock Holmes’ Adventure of the Norwood Builder.” On Fri., March 16 and Sat., March 17, step back in time as ELTC presents this tale in the style of a vintage radio broadcast complete with live sound effects and commercials. Holmes and Watson follow the evidence which points to a young lawyer as a murderer, but is he being set up? The production takes place at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Decatur and Hughes streets. General admission $25, full-time students $15, ages 18 and under are free.
