SEA ISLE CITY – The third season of the Sea Isle City’s Got Talent competition came to a dramatic close during this year’s spectacular Grand Finale on Aug. 16. Hosted by Sea Isle’s Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization (in cooperation with the City of Sea Isle City) the summer-long contest delights large audiences each Friday evening at the Excursion Park Band Shell, where weekly first, second and third place winners walk home with $250, $100 and $50 respectively.
“This year, audiences enjoyed the best array of talent we ever had,” said event organizer and talent expert Alex Glover. “We’ve seen amazing dancers, bands, singers, guitarists and many other talented performers all summer!”
The 21-act Grand Finale on Aug. 16 was judged by Comedian/Radio Personality Big Daddy Graham, two-time American Idol Top 40 Finalist Christian Foti, Touch of Class Dance Studio owner Debbie Apalucci, and Singer/Teacher Susan Davis.
After closely examining each of the Grand Finale’s performances, which included a magician, dancers, and various musicians, the judges chose singer Mara Justine, 11, of Galloway, NJ, to be this year’s first place winner – thanks to her rendition of And I am Telling You from the Broadway Musical Dreamgirls. During an on-stage award ceremony at the close of the show, Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization President Chris Glancey presented Justine with a giant check for $1500.
Six teenagers from The JoAnne Regan Dancer Studio – Manny Donnelly, 15, of Cape May Court House, Nauttikka Genz, 14, of Cape May, NJ, Macie Kramer, 18, of Cape May Court House, NJ, Ahmad Foster, 14, of Cape May Court House, Janel Concepcion, 13, of Cape May, NJ, and Troy Stevenson, 13, of Cape May, NJ –performed a lively hip-hip dance routine that won them the evening’s second place prize of $750.
Third prize of $350 was awarded to singer Casey Cattie, 18, of Chadds Ford, PA, who delighted this year’s Grand Final judges with the ballad Broken Wing. Cattie, who has appeared in Sea Isle City’s Got Talent for the past three years, was also the competitions third place winner in 2011.
