Sea Isle City Has Many Activities Planned for National Night Out on Aug. 6

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – On Aug. 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Sea Isle City Police Department and Sea Isle’s Municipal Alliance Committee will host a National Night Out gathering at the resort’s Marina Park along 42nd Place. As is the case in towns and cities throughout the country, the focus of Sea Isle City’s National Night Out is to increase awareness for important police programs, such as drug prevention, avoiding juvenile alcohol use, and other anti-crime efforts.
Sea Isle’s National Night Out will feature complimentary snacks, give-aways, face painters, balloon artists, live music and other free family enjoyment. There will also be a dunk tank holding City officials, which will raise funds for Mayor Desiderio’s 2013 Holiday Toy and Food Drive.
The event will also feature a series of interactive booths along 42nd Place, manned by representatives from local first responder organizations, including Sea Isle City’s Fire Department, Ambulance Corps and Beach Patrol, as well as Cape May County’s Sheriff’s Office, Prosecutor’s Office and S.W.A.T. Team. At the SIC Police Department booth, officers will allow participants to try-on special goggles that show how severely alcohol impairs basic functions.
While interacting with the first responders at each booth, children will receive free ride tickets for Funland Amusement Park, which is also located along 42nd Place. Each ticket will admit one person onto any ride in the park on the evening of August 6. Tickets will be distributed only to children, however any child who may be too young to enjoy the rides at Funland on their own can share their spare tickets with an older family member, who may use the ticket to accompany the youngster on the ride.
According to Sea Isle City Police Lt. Thomas McQuillen, organizer of the event, this year’s National Night Out in Sea Isle City will offer something for every member of the family.
“The purpose of NNO is to allow the public to get together with first responder organizations in order to strengthen relationships and form the basis of a true community partnership,” said McQuillen. “This is an event that all first responders look forward to each year. We encourage residents and visitors to come out and enjoy the fun on August 6.”
