Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s Annual Mascot School for Children July 6-7

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Each summer, lifeguards from the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol (SICPB) host the Captain Thomas P. McCann Mascot School for 200 boys and girls, ages 4-8. During this popular event, which teaches children the values of good sportsmanship and teamwork, participants enjoy riding in lifeguard boats, lessons on beach and water safety, races, games and refreshments. Then, during the exciting Mascot Races, children display their skills in front of family and friends during running and surf bashing competitions on the beach. Youngsters who complete all three days of the school and the races receive commemorative tee shirts – and all children receive plenty of encouragement from their new friends, the lifeguards of the SICBP.
The 2011 Captain Thomas P. McCann Mascot School will be held on Wednesday-Thursday, July 6-7 (rain date: July 8) and the Mascot Races will be on Saturday, July 9 (rain date July 10). Both the school and the races will take place between 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Sea Isle’s 44th Street Beach, in front of the SICBP Headquarters. The cost per child to participate is $5. Space is limited.
This year’s Mascot School and Races are sponsored by Rocky and Fred’s Creative Design Florists, 7-Eleven of Sea Isle City, Casino Steaks & Pizzeria, Shoobies Restaurant and the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol.
