Saturday Evening Performances are Added to Sea Isle City’s List of Free Summer Concerts

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – In recent years, Sea Isle City’s residents and visitors have enjoyed an enticing variety of free musical entertainment during the summer months. With regular Monday night concerts on the Promenade that featured a wide-range of musical genres, there have long-been many options for music-lovers here. Now, thanks to the resort’s new Entertainment Complex and an expanded line-up of free outdoor summer concerts, the musical choices in Sea Isle City seem endless.
One of the most anticipated features of Sea Isle’s new Entertainment Complex is the modern band shell at Excursion Park (adjacent to the Promenade at JFK Boulevard). Once completed prior to the 2011 Memorial Day weekend, the band shell will become the new home for all of Sea Isle’s summer concerts, family dance parties and outdoor movies – in addition to many other events. A venue that will allow spectators to easily see the stage from the street level and from the promenade, the band shell will feature a 575 square-foot stage, modern lighting and sound systems, bench seating for 120 spectators and plenty of room for people to spread-out on Excursion Park’s lawn. Residents and visitors alike are eager to attend events at the open-air stage, which will ensure that Sea Isle City is the “in place” for entertainment for years to come.
To make the most of the new band shell, Sea Isle City has expanded its 2011 summer entertainment schedule. Now, in addition to the town’s much-loved Monday evening concerts, there will also be free concerts on Saturday evenings.
The Saturday night concert series will begin with a performance by The Strathmere Ensemble on June 4, followed by Changes in Latitude (Jimmy Buffet tribute) on June 11, The Sensational Soul Cruisers on June 18 and Tidal Wave on June 25. Hollywood Nights (Bob Seger tribute) will take the stage on July 2, followed by Seven Bridges (Eagles tribute) on July 9, The Duprees on July 16, The Quaker City String Band on July 23 and Real Diamond (Neil Diamond tribute) on July 30. Later in the summer, Beatlemania Again will perform on August 6, followed by Doug Brewin (Alan Jackson tribute) on August 13, Don’t Call Me Francis on August 20 and An Evening With The Quails on August 27. Sea Isle’s Saturday evening concerts will continue into September, when The Strathmere Ensemble, Masquerade, Split Decision and The Fisher & Maher Irish Band will perform.
Sea Isle’s free Monday evening concerts will begin on June 27, when Good Tymes Oldies Band appears at the band shell. Other Monday night performers include Just in Time on July 11, Juicy on July 18, The Daisy Jug Band on July 25, Jimmy and the Parrots on August 1, 52nd Street Band (Billy Joel tribute) on August 8, Hawkins Road Band on August 15, The Insiders on August 22 and Star Band on August 29.
Beginning on Friday, June 24, a new form of entertainment will also take place at Sea Isle’s band shell: the first edition of Sea Isle City’s Got Talent. Based on the popular television series, America’s Got Talent, Sea Isle City’s Got Talent will award cash prizes to competitors each Friday and a large grand prize to one performer in August. Sea Isle City’s Got Talent, which is a cooperative effort between the City of Sea Isle City, Sea Isle Revitalization and the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce, is sure to attract enthusiastic crowds and many talented entertainers.
