‘Sandy Storm Stories’ To Be Featured at First Friday Campfire

CAPE MAY – It’s not every day we survive the “storm of the century,” so why not come out this Fri. night and share your story, or listen to the tales of other Sandy survivors around our “First Friday” campfire beginning at 6:00. Bring your beach chair, dress warm, sit close and join with other “Sandy Survivors” as we roast marshmallows and swap stories. And if you have a guitar and a song, bring them too!
If you don’t know what to do with all those non-perishable supplies you stocked up in preparation for Sandy, bring them along. We’ll donate them to the Food Bank or other worthwhile cause.
And don’t forget, The Harbor Gallery will be unveiling its Holiday Artists Marketplace at November’s First Friday. This very special exhibit will run for two months only, November and December. All artwork is original and is priced under $50! During these two months, the Marketplace will present the work of local photographers, painters, potters, printmakers, jewelers and mosaic artists and feature the talents of Janet Payne, Tina Giaimo, Lee Hajduk, Pam Huber, Susan Ross, Lynda Fellenbaum, Anita Roth, Laura McPherson, Glenn Fellenbaum and Janet McShaine. The public is invited to meet the artists at a reception scheduled to coincide with the Center’s First Friday celebration beginning at 6:00.
According to co-curator Tina Giaimo, “We wanted to make artwork affordable for holiday shoppers. It is exciting because as pieces sell, artists will restock so the exhibit will always be fresh and new.”
There are few Cape May experiences more beautiful and serene than spending an autumn evening on the Harbor. More than just stunningly beautiful, the Harbor along with its adjoining waterways, marshes and bays has a rich history steeped in legend and mystery.
So come out and join us on “First Friday,” Nov. 2, for the unveiling of the Holiday Artists Marketplace, and then remain for the campfire, marshmallows, and Sandy Storm Stories at New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May.
The Nature Center of Cape May (NCCM) is situated on the rim of Cape May Harbor at 1600 Delaware Avenue in Cape May. One of 10 centers operated by New Jersey Audubon, the Center provides family oriented programming in the marine sciences on a year-round basis. The public is invited to visit our campus, shop at the nature store and view the breathtaking harbor and its environment from the Trucksess Observation tower.
