“Starz of Tomorrow” at the PAC

On Friday evening, August 2nd, a musical show – “Starz of Tomorrow” – will be presented at the PAC of Middle Township Performing Arts Center. The Center is located at 12 Bayberry Drive, Cape May Court House. Admission is free, and the show will feature young singers and instrumentalists.
The show will include the music of Broadway, opera, and the classical repertoire. Under the direction of twenty year-old Joe Mohan, a piano student at Juilliard School of Music in New York City, the show will feature Cape May County favorites including Soprano Lexis Petrella, currently studying at the Manhattan School of Music, and Baritone Jarrett Porter, Student at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Jarrett recently returned to Cape May County after appearing in a new opera, “The Gospel of Mary Magdalene”, with the San Francisco Opera Company.
Jay Dref, a baritone who has recently graduated from Juilliard, has performed with several opera companies and will be joined by fellow Juilliard grads Jeremy Smith on percussion and Corey Schutzer on bass.
Pianist and director Joe Mohan has made several recordings and recently made his Carnegie Hall debut. Joe has performed several times with the Ocean City Pops and will appear with the Pops on Wednesday, August 7th, at the Ocean City Music Pier. There, for the first time, he will play a medley of Marvin Hamlisch’s music that he recently arranged and wrote. Joe was mentored by Marvin Hamlisch himself.
The production is under the supervision of John L. Curto of Stone Harbor. Mr. Curto will also present “Salute to Broadway” at the PAC with the Ocean City Pops on Saturday, October 12th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are now on sale at the PAC Box Office. For more information, call 609-463-1924.
