“Art on Asbury” presents “Little Women” on Dec. 3

OCEAN CITY –The Ocean City Fine Arts League presents free pre-screened films featuring artists and art trends every month through June 2014. Movies are show at 6:30pm at the Ocean City Public Library, located at 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City, NJ. Upcoming shows include:
December 3 – Little Women This film is based on Louisa May Alcott’s classicnovel about a family of women in Civil War-era New England. Susan Sarandon stars as the mother of the March sisters. Winona Ryder plays Jo. (1 hr. 59 min.)
January 7, 2014 – Emma – 1996 – Based on the novel by Jane Austen, this period romantic comedy stars Gwyneth Paltrow as Emma Woodhouse, a young woman who imagines herself as authority on matters of the heart. (122 minute)
February 4, 2014 – Moonstruck – 1987 – When the moon is full over Brooklyn, anything can happen in the neighborhood where widowed bookkeeper Loretta Castorini lives. Cher and Nicolas Cage star in this film.

March 4, 2014 – Capote – 2005 – The creation of the book “In Cold Blood” and the impact the writing and research would have on its author, Truman Capote, is explored in this drama based on a true story.

April 1, 2014 – Mediterraneo – 1991 – This film is Gabriele Salvatores’ antiwar story set during World War II on a seemingly deserted island in the middle of the Aegean Sea. (86 minutes)
May 6, 2014 – Music of the Heart – 1999 – Meryl Streep stars in this inspiring drama about a teacher who helps change the lives of her students through Music. (124 minutes)
June 10, 2014 – 2006 – A Prairie Home Companion – Acclaimed filmmaker Robert Altman brings National Public Radio stalwart Garrison Keillor’s long-running radio program to vivid life on the big screen in a backstage fable centering on the final performance of a fictionalized version of his variety show.

The Ocean City Fine Arts League is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating awareness of the arts and art community. Comprised of local artists and art lovers, the “Art on Asbury” Gallery showcases watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, photography, pottery, textiles, jewelry and sculptures- all made by local artists.
