CAPE MAY — The Bird Show opens at the Cape May Convention Hall on Friday, October 24 at noon. Live hawks and owls courtesy of Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge will be featured along with interactive exhibits from the Jersey Cape Beekeepers Association and the Marine Mammal Stranding Center. New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May will have oodles of family-friendly activity including live animals, and a variety of hands-on and interactive nature discovery programs, a scavenger hunt, story time, and much more.
Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge will present live raptors, New Jersey’s Hunters of the Sky. Hawks and owls are among the rehabilitated animals that Cedar Run cares for at their wildlife rehabilitation hospital in Medford, NJ. Many are returned to the wild, while others, whose injuries prevent release, are displayed to help the public learn about native species. Cedar Run staff and volunteers will have different live birds at their booth every day. Get up close and personal with these fantastic creatures! Cedar Run’s Northern Pine Snake and Eastern Box Turtles may also make appearances during the weekend!
Representatives from leading optics companies (Swarovski Optik, Leica Sport Optics, Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, Nikon Sport Optics, and Opticron) will have binoculars and telescopes for birding and wildlife viewing to try. Plan a birding or nature trip with international tour company exhibitors including Victor Emanuel Nature Tours, Rockjumper Worldwide Birding Adventures, Caribbean Conservation Trust, Wildside Nature Tours, and Bird Quest and Wild Images Tours. Wildlife art and nature-related crafts, BirdWatching Magazine, and nature guide publishers (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Princeton University Press) will have the latest and greatest titles on display. Learn more about birding and conservation from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, New Jersey Audubon, South Texas Nature, and the Cape May Bird Observatory.
