WILDWOOD – Wildwood’s 8th Annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at the Wildwoods Convention Center Jan. 18 at 1:00 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, raises money for New Jersey Special Olympics.
Registration took place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Plungers had to raise a minimum of $100 in order to participate.
“Over the past seven years the Wildwood event has raised more than $1.1 million for Special Olympians,” said John Lynch, Director of Marketing for the Wildwoods Convention Center.
Over 900 people took part in this year’s plunge.
During the plunge, the air temperature was 36 degrees, there was a 14 mph wind blowing, and a water temperature of 40 degrees.
