OCEAN CITY – Miss New Jersey’s annual parade took place on the Ocean City Boardwalk June 11 at 7:00 p.m.
The 24 contestants showed off their colorful outfits to this year’s theme “The Red Carpet on the Ocean City Boardwalk,” and showed their shoes, a tradition of Miss America sponsored parades.
Cape May County is represented by Miss Cape May County Sarah Ford, 19, of Seaville. Ford is a student at the University of Pittsburgh. Her talent is dance. Her platform for the pageant is ‘Smiles Save: Healing Through Hospital Volunteerism.’
Another local, Miss Eastern Shores Devon Vanderslice, 21, of Ocean City is competing as well. Vanderslice is a student at West Chester University. Her talent is also dance. Her platform is ‘Donate the Gift of Life, Organ Donation.’
Preliminaries will be held June 12-13 with the finals set for Sat., June 14, at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. All programs start at 7:00 p.m.
The winner will represent the State at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
