WILDWOOD – The Philadelphia Soul will be down at the shore on Saturday, August 13 to host the Sixth Annual Summer Slam in Wildwood, NJ. The event will take place on Schellenger Avenue and the beach from noon to 4 p.m., with the flag football tournament starting at 10 a.m. and running through completion with the net proceeds from Summer Slam to benefit “Lunch with Lynch”, a Wildwood-based charity.
“We’re excited to bring Summer Slam back to Wildwood after a two-year hiatus,” said Soul VP/COO John Adams. “This is a unique experience for fans to interact with players and the organization, and we hope to see all of the Soul fans on the beach on August 13th.”
Summer Slam will be presented by Coastal Broadcasting with FUN 106.7 and 98.7 The Coast broadcasting the event live.
“The high-energy excitement of a Philadelphia Soul event is a huge compliment to the vacation experience in the Wildwoods, and we are thrilled that the Soul will once again call the Wildwoods its summer beach home,” said Coastal Broadcasting General Manager, Bob Maschio. “By involving our local ‘Lunch With Lynch’ organization that provides educational and social opportunities to children from Wildwood, the Soul again reaffirms its outreach to improving the communities in its vast fan base.”
Summer Slam will feature live bands, food vendors, and a silent auction table with autographed items from our team, owner Ron Jaworski and other Philadelphia sports teams. Kids can enjoy inflatable rides and games.
This is a great opportunity for Soul fans to mingle with Soul players, coaches and Soulmates. The Soul will also be holding a Merchandise Blowout Sale for fans to bring home their favorite Soul gear.
A men’s 7-on-7 and a co-ed 8-on-8 flag football tournament will begin at 10 a.m. on the beach. To register your team now, go to www.playphillysports.com.
Five world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will be making a special appearance at Summer Slam at 2 p.m., and will sign autographs for 30 minutes immediately after the performance. They will perform their renowned “Magical Circle.” The Harlem Globetrotters are playing four games at the Wildwood Convention Center from August 10-13, with night games at 7 p.m.
Fans are invited to continue the celebration with players and Soulmates at the post event party at the Boardwalk Bar and Grill (3500 Atlantic Ave) from 4-6 p.m. Food and drink specials will be available.
