PAC to Offer 11 Holiday Shows, Movies in December

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – The holiday spirit will come early and often at the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township during the month of December.
Kay Aspell, managing director, has announced that PAC will present nine Christmas-oriented live performances and two special showings of holiday movies for children between Dec. 3 and 18.
Among the attractions will be Linda Gentille’s Jersey Shore Pops Orchestra on Sat. night, Dec. 3 at 7:30 in a “Christmas at the Cape Concert” and the New Jersey Ballet on Sun., Dec. 11, in two performances at 1 and 4 p.m. of its annual production of “The Nutcracker.”
“PAC will be busy virtually every night during the first half of December as it fulfills its double mission for educational purposes and to provide cultural attractions for the area,” said Aspell.
The Jersey Shore Pops concert is an added attraction, coming on the heels of its first full year that drew large audiences and a request for a Christmas concert. Next year the orchestra will expand its schedule from five to eight concerts.
The New Jersey Ballet, which has made the Performing Arts Center its South Jersey base, will be presenting its 18th performance here. It features professional ballet dancers from foreign nations and colorful scenery to go along with the popular Christmas ballet.
Richard Ludwig, one time music director of the prize winning Middle Township High School Marching Band, returns to PAC on Sun. afternoon, Dec. 18, at 3 as director of the 30-member John Walters Band with a swing- time oriented Christmas concert that will feature vocalists. There will be an added holiday touch to this free concert. Refreshments will be served the audience including Christmas cookies.
A night earlier on Sat., Dec. 17, at 8, the Middle Township Council on the Arts will present a variety show, “Christmas at the PAC, Our Holiday Gift To You.” It will include a cast of more than 50 adults and children.
Students from Middle and Dennis Townships also will present holiday shows during December. The Middle High School band and choir will perform on Wednesday night, December 14, at 7 p.m. and elementary schools 4 and 2 will present concerts respectively on Tues. and Wed., Dec. 6 and 7, at 7 p.m. Dennis Township’s elementary school choir will take center stage on Tues. night, Dec. 13, at 7 when it presents its annual holiday concert.
The many purpose PAC, which next year will celebrate its 20th anniversary, will turn to the silver screen on Fri., Dec. 16, when it shows two holiday movies, the first at 6 p.m. for younger children, the second at 8 for older.
Many of the events are free and others are nominally priced. Call 463-1924 for ticket details. There is abundant free parking.
