COURT HOUSE – Please join us for the recognition of a piece of Cape May County culture.
The official dedication of the beach plum as “The Official Fruit of Cape May County” will take place Thursday July 21, 2011 during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2011 4-H County Fair. The 4-H Fair Grounds at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Office next to the ACCC Campus will be the location for the event.
The beach plum has enjoyed a long history here with the county residents. On December 2010 the County Freeholders responsive to the popularity of the beach plum alongside the resolute efforts toward a sustainable new food crop by the Cape May County Beach Plum Association has honored the fruit with this official act.
