Ocean City’s Quiet Festival Nov. 10-14

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City’s Quiet Time Festival will be held Nov. 10-14. Activities are as follows:
Wed., Nov. 10, 4 p.m.- Paper Air Plane making and flying, Eighth Street and Haven Avenue playground, with licensed pilot, Ken Thorpe and his crew. Learn how to make and fly those quiet, paper airplanes.
Thurs. Nov. 11, 4 p.m. Paper Air Plane making and flying, Tabernacle Youth Center, Fifth and Asbury Ave. with Ken Thorpe.
Fri., Nov. 12 at noon — Official opening of Festival in front of City Hall, Ninth and Asbury Avenue features Yawn Along to the tune of Beautiful Dreamer, inspirational maple pod drop, a tinkling concert by the world’s only wind chimes band, leaf squeezing, pine cone juggling and Yo Yo demonstration by Air Circus plus bubbles galore.
Pause for a moment of silence to observe clouds.
Fri. Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Folk concert by Early Morning Reign at Primary School.
Fri. Nov. 12 at 7-9 p.m., Open poetry reading, Concrete Visual Poetry Display and discussion about the importance of poetry with Bud Cole, Mark Soifer and area poets and poetry groups, Room 116 Ocean City Library.
Admission is free. Park in Civic Center lot at 17th and Haven, walk up ramp into building, 116 is first room on right.
Sat. Nov. 13, 10 a.m. till noon Program in the downtown at Kids Creations, 811 Asbury Ave. Includes Paper Clip Art Contest, make something interesting out of paper clips and other quiet but interesting pastimes.
Sat., Nov. 13 at 2p.m. Early Morning Reign Folk Concert at Wesley Manor, 17th and Bay Avenue. Public invited, please call 609-525-9300 for reservations. Free.
Sun., Nov. 14, You’re on your own. Quiet Festival Suggestions: Fly a kite, take a walk, inspect the clouds, Blow bubbles into the air, stroll the boardwalk and inspect the horizon, later on enjoy the moon and stars, give your doggie a tummy rub, recite the Quiet Festival Poem:
Ida not hear your song/Ida not hear your words/ I never watch the moon/ Or listen to the birds/ I’m lost in the noise/ That saturates my space/ I’m weary of the clatter/ Find me a quiet place…
School concert not open to public. Come to Saturday’s concert at Wesley Manor.
