OCEAN CITY — The Ocean City Pops Orchestra, William Scheible, Artistic Director, presents Philadelphia Orchestra Concertmaster David Kim in recital on Sun., Aug. 15 at 8 p.m.
Joining him on stage is pianist Jeffery Uhlig. The concert takes place at the POPS’ historic performance venue, The Music Pier, located at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.
Kim was named Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999. Born in Carbondale, Ill. in 1963, he started playing the violin at the age of three, began studies with the famed teacher Dorothy DeLay at the age of eight, and later received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. In 1986 he was the only American violinist to win a prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
Jeffrey Uhlig has appeared as collaborative pianist in many concerts in America and also has performed in Russia. Some of his notable performances have been at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC and at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York.
