OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Pops Orchestra, William Scheible, Artistic Director, presents An Evening of Song on Sunday, August 7th at 8:00 PM at its historic performance venue, The Music Pier, located at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. Featured in this program are Elisa Mathews and Dominic Inferrera singing highlights of La Traviata, Man of La Mancha, and Richard Rodgers. Joining them will be Violinist Brenden Zak performing Saint-Saens concerto no. 3 and Ocean City High School vocal student (tenor) Kameron Ghanavati who is a recent winner of the Weil Competition that was held in May. Elisa Matthews is attracting attention in the musical theatre and opera worlds for her sweet soprano and compelling stage presence. Recently she played Grace in Annie featuring Emmy-winning Wanda Sykes as Miss Hannigan and was lauded “a standout” by Howard Shapiro of the Philadelphia Inquirer. This spring she played Meg March in Bristol Riverside Theatre’s production of Little Women with Jennie Eisenhower as Jo. Gina Stevens of Stage reported “Meg is perfectly played by Elisa Matthews. She sounded, looked and moved like an angel.”
Baritone Dominic Inferrera is gaining a great deal of attention for giving voice to many different styles of music including opera, oratorio, musical theater, pop, jazz, and contemporary music. Mr. Inferrera has enjoyed a great deal of success in many regional opera companies across the country. He won critical acclaim in the role of The Son in Hugo Weisgall’s Six Characters in Search of an Author with Opera Festival of New Jersey, where The New York Times proclaimed him a “standout”.
