The Ocean City Arts Center announces that its Annual Membership Meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at 7:00 P.M. in the Ballet Studio of the Center, which is located at 1735 Simpson Avenue on the second floor. The meeting is free and open to the public.
The meeting encompasses annual reports from the Executive Director and the Officers of the Board as well as the nomination and election of Officers and Trustees. The Board has also invited a guest speaker: Jean Muchanic, Executive Director of the Inlet Public/Private Association (IPPA), the non-profit organization that maintains the Absecon Lighthouse in the north end of Atlantic City. The Lighthouse is the third tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and one of the country’s oldest lighthouses.
The Inlet Public/Private Association was established in 1988 by a coalition of community, civic, business and government interests whose shared purpose was to promote the successful redevelopment of the Inlet section of Atlantic City. The IPPA adopted Atlantic City’s Absecon Lighthouse in 1993 and began planning its restoration. Ms. Muchanic was appointed Executive Director of the IPPA in 2005. She will give a brief history of the Lighthouse as well as the process of restoring the Lighthouse tower and the Lightkeeper’s House. She will also discuss the Lighthouse’s programs and services, and elaborate on the IPPA’s funding efforts.
