Nutcracker Coming to the Area

COURT HOUSE — New Jersey Ballet is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its production of the Nutcracker by inviting everyone from the Cape May area to join the festivities on Sun., Dec. 12 at Middle Township PAC.
Performances are at 1 and 4 p.m.
This Nutcracker, which is the longest running original professional production in the state, debuted in 1971 with Edward Villella (then a star with New York City Ballet) as the Cavalier.
Today, after almost 800 performances and a million viewers, it has become a cherished holiday tradition with generations of theatergoers throughout New Jersey and beyond.
In Cape May County area, the roles of Mother Ginger’s Clown Children – one of the highlights of the second act – will be performed by students from Art of Gymnastics and Cheer, Rio Grande.
Over the years, New Jersey Ballet’s Nutcracker has retained the original charm of a 19th century Christmas card, which has made it a cherished holiday tradition for thousands of fans and families.
New Jersey Ballet’s Nutcracker will be at Middle Township Performing Arts Center, 1 Penkethman Way, Court House Sun., Dec. 12 at 1and 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students, $10 for children 9 and under.
