North Wildwood Plans August Events

By Press Release

NORTH WILDWOOD – Everyone’s saying “The summer’s almost over. It’s going so quickly!” But in this city, things are just heating up. Next up is National Lighthouse Day at Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Aug. 7.
Come celebrate 225 years of lighthouse heritage and the contributions they have made to provide safety and guidance to ships at sea.
Admission to the Lighthouse is free on that day from at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
At 10 a.m. there will be a formal ceremony with keynote speaker Captain Todd Prestidge, Commanding Officer U. S. Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May.
There will be other distinguished guest speakers, music, authors, artists, food, special exhibits and a children’s activity area.
For additional information, call 609-522-4520.
Aug. 11, lifeguards and alumni rowers will meet to compete in the Bud Tarbotton Memorial North Wildwood Beach Patrol Around the Island Row, the area’s longest and toughest race for doubles crews.
Around the Island Row is the only race in which spectators travel in vehicles to various parts of the island to watch the progress of the event. The race honors the late Tarbotton, who founded the race in 1976 as a member of the North Wildwood City Council.
If you want to follow and watch, call 609-522-7500 for the route and approximate times.
Aug. 16 you can watch the Tri the Wildwoods Triathlon, 5K, and Kids Splash and Dash at 15th and the beach.
For more information on this event call 609-849-8393.
And every Thursday and Saturday evening come to the Lou Booth Amphitheater, Second and Ocean avenues for the Concerts under the Stars series.
Here’s the lie-up:
