COURT HOUSE – While watching the Academy Awards, did you ever wonder where the documentaries and independent films could be viewed? Well, film enthusiasts will no longer have to travel to Philadelphia or New York to view these movies. The Middle Township Performing Arts Center announces the launch of “Monday Night at the Movies”. The Performing Arts Center, located at 212 Bayberry Drive in Cape May Court House, NJ, is a state of the art venue for plays and performances, and will soon become known as a film venue as well.
Local advertising agency, ProMedia Group, which recently opened a movie division, recognized that residents of this region did not have easy access to view current documentaries and independent films. After meeting with Kay Aspell, director of the Middle Township Performing Arts Center, an agreement was made for the PAC to begin a film series titled “Monday Night at the Movies”.
Twice monthly, films will be shown at the PAC at 7 p.m. “These films are current and the PAC will host the only regional theatre screenings,” says Carol Struett, partner at ProMedia Group. The films will appeal to all ages and cover a wide variety of topics that are entertaining, informative and educational. “Film students, in particular, will be interested in attending “Monday Night at the Movies” to experience the documentary genre,” says Struett.
Movie goers will enjoy the complete movie experience at the Performing Arts Center with a large screen and comfortable seating. The film series will run from this fall through the spring of 2014. There will be one seating at 7 p.m. and the Performing Arts Center can seat as many as 1,000 people. Tickets will be $8.00 for all ages, and can be purchased either in advance by calling or visiting the PAC box office, or at the door the night of the film.
Film titles include: If I Were You, Free the Mind, Computer Chess, Hava Nagila, The Trials of Muhammad Ali, Deceptive Practice of Ricky Jay, When Comedy Went to School, Fire In The Blood and more to be announced.
“This is something unique, that no other venue in our area is doing and we are extremely proud and excited that Middle Township PAC will be host to current documentaries and independent films,” says Aspell. “Additionally, we see this as an excellent educational resource for students across the region.”
