New Look, New Selections at Oceanside Seafood

By Jennifer Land

Oceanside Seafood Restaurant and Take Out Market, located at the corner of 25th Street and Dune Drive in Avalon, has a new look. When Michele Hall became the owner in 2006, she had a vision of the environment and atmosphere that she wanted to create.
Today when you walk into Oceanside Seafood Restaurant and Take Out Market you are immersed in a shore vibe. Michele incorporated the light airy colors of yellow, green and blue which are indicative of the beach and utilized this palette in a variety of ways – from wall paint and fun, funky wall decor to the plaid fabrics use to reupholster the banquettes and window treatments.
As soon as you walk in the door you know you are at the shore…the casual and relaxed ambiance encourages diners to linger and enjoy their meal in the sunroom or main dining room. The sun room previously enclosed is now partially open to the dining room yet maintains its privacy for tables of two and smaller groups. If you feel like people watching while dining, the sunroom is a perfect spot to take in the sights of Dune Drive.
Michele wanted to keep the traditional and favorite entrees we all know and love such as steamed, fried, and broiled seafood, the staples of shore dining, while incorporating more contemporary selections….seared Ahi-Tuna served with cucumber wasabi and crispy shrimp wraps—shrimp wrapped in wonton wrapper and served with a spicy Thai dipping sauce. The expansion of their menu to include these and other Asian inspired dishes will keep you coming back to Oceanside Seafood to see what their chef is creating next to excite your taste buds. Oceanside is more than pleased to supply you with a bucket of ice for your beverages as well.
Adjacent yet separated from the dining area by a wall of etched glass and a curio space containing eclectic items, you will find the seafood market and take out area. Knowing the importance of convenience for patrons who choose to order take out, Michele has added several small tables for patrons in the market area at which you can relax and catch the Phillies or Eagles game on the newly installed flat screen televisions.
Oceanside Seafood Restaurant and Take Out Market is open thru Columbus Day Weekend. For menus, photos and more, check out Oceanside Seafood online at www.capemaycountyherald.com
