New Jersey Ballet to Perform “The Nutcracker” at PAC

COURT HOUSE – There will be several reasons to celebrate when the New Jersey Ballet brings its holiday hit “The Nutcrcacker” to the stage of the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township on Dec. 9, for two performances at 1 and 4 p.m.
In addition to the obvious holiday celebration , The PAC will celebrate its 20th anniversary, the ballet company will mark its 19th program at The PAC and its 42nd season of presenting “The Nutcracker.” During that period , it has offered more than 800 performances by some 4,000 dancers and children and audiences exceeding one million fans.
“This has been truly a highlight of our year as The PAC continues to become the culture center of Cape May County,” said Kay Aspell, the managing director of the arts center.”It is a tribute to the New Jersey Ballet that its productions draw large audiences here.”
The performances at The PAC are among 18 that are being given by the company throughout the state during the holiday season. The performing Arts Center has been designated as the South Jersey home for the North Jersey based company.
T he troupe consists of 16 professional dancers from eight countries including Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uruguay and the United States. They have performed internationally with renowned companies as well as in the United States with the Los Angeles Ballet, the Carolina Ballet, the St. Louis Ballet and the international company of Riverdance.
Supplementing them will be the local students of the Art of Gymnastics and Cheer of Rio Grande which for several years have delighted audiences with their Mother Clowns scene of the classic dance production. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $15 for students and $12 for children under the age of 10. Call 609-463-1924 for tickets. The Performing Arts Center is situated at 212 Bayberry Drive, one mile east of exit 10 of the Garden State Parkway. There is free parking for all.
