New Group Forming in Cape May For Area Veterans

By Press Release

CAPE MAY –The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), Cape May’s leader in historic preservation, invites all Cape May area veterans, families, and interested citizens to learn about a newly formed group, Friends of the World War II Lookout Tower.
In March 2009, MAC successfully completed the restoration of the World War II Lookout Tower, also known as Fire Control Tower No. 23, located on Sunset Boulevard in Lower Township near Cape May Point, and opened the wartime landmark to the public. The World War II Lookout Tower Museum & Memorial pays tribute to the dedicated men and women who have helped preserve our freedom and stands as a reminder of the Cape May area’s important role during the war years.
On Thursday, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m., MAC will host an informative gathering for those interested in being a part of “Friends of the World War II Lookout Tower” at the Carriage House Tearoom & Café, located on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. A program on “Music of the War Years” will be included. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Anna Leeper at 609-884-5404 ext. 111.
The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Cape May’s heritage.
