Nature Center to Host Photo Tour of Cuba

By Sponsored Content

CAPE MAY – Sure, Cuba is all about great cigars, rum, an embargo, the missile crisis and an island awash in “57” Chevy’s, but there’s so much more. Less well known is the fact that this island paradise has a rich natural history with a unique flora and fauna and 26 species of birds endemic to the island. Moreover, like our little slice of heaven here on the Jersey Cape, because of its location just 90 miles off the coast of Florida, Cuba is an important avian migratory stopover.
Our final Harborside Chat on April 29 will feature photographer Hugh Simmons who visited this magical place on a humanitarian license in order to census birds and was treated to a relatively unfiltered view of life in Cuba. Through his photography, Hugh will give the audience a rare glimpse of Cuba’s unique birds and the fascinating history and culture of the place they call home.
So, join us on Tuesday evening, April 29th, beginning at 6:00 for this very special program. As usual, we’ll gather in the Charlotte Van Leer Todd Education Hall located at 1600 Delaware Avenue. As usual, the “chats” are free but generous donations are welcomed and much needed.
