N. J. Elks to Celebrate 100 Years with Parade

WILDWOOD – New Jersey Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will celebrate 100 years as a premiere charitable organization at the Wildwoods Convention Center from Thurs. June 6 through June 9th.
A big parade will be held on Sat., June 8 on Atlantic Avenue starting at 26th Street in Wildwood at noon. Come out and support your local Elks with all New Jersey Elks. Over 100 lodges from New Jersey are marching, some with bands and floats. Local lodges are Greater Cape May in Villas and Greater Wildwood in North Wildwood. Other South District Lodges are Brigantine, Clayton, Deerfield, Galloway, Egg Harbor, Millville, Pennsgrove and Vineland. Information can be obtained on the Internet, www.njelks.org.
The Elks are second in the nation for scholarships, information available from high school counselors, through the Elks National Foundation; own and operate Camp Moore, a camp for Special Children and support U.S. veterans by service to veterans homes, participate in the Army of Hope and the NJ Run For The Fallen.
Also Drug Awareness by sending high school students for a Peer Leadership Conference. Mascot, Elroy, visits events with drug awareness literature; giving dictionaries and holding essay contests for school children; sponsor Hoop Shoots, Soccer Shoots and Batter Ups.
