4:45 p.m.: The top nine prize-winning string bands of the 2009 Mummers New Year’s Day Parade will strut from Second and Olde New Jersey avenues to Spruce, stopping several times for special performances.
The following string bands will be included:
Durning String Band
Hegeman String Band
Woodland String Band
Kensington String Band
Polish American String Band
Ferko String Band
South Philadelphia
Quaker City String Band
Fralinger String Band
North Wildwood Mayor Bill Henfey said, “Let’s face it: people love the Mummers, and the Mummers love to entertain. And what’s better than enjoying their music and strutting along with them—for free!”
