CAPE MAY- The city has signed a professional services contract with Michael Cool to provide consulting services for with booking and coordinating performing arts and other events at Convention Hall.
Cool through his company MC Events will be paid $30,000 annually. His contract requires maintaining general liability insurance of $1 million against claims for personal injury, death or property damage occurring on city property as a result of negligent acts of MC Event, its agents and employees.
The city’s agreement with Cool notes MC Events is in the business of booking and coordinating events including marketing, scheduling, negotiating contracts, budgeting and formatting policies and practices.
Cool was introduced at a Jan. 15 City Council meeting. Mayor Edward J. Mahaney Jr. said Cool had just retired from Stockton College after 34 years of service. Cool was executive director of the Stockton Performing Arts Center.
“If you attended the concert series we had last summer out at Convention Hall, Mike was the one that put that together,” he said. “Since 1989, he has been the overseer of the Stockton Performing Arts Center in Pomona.”
Deputy Mayor Jack Wichterman said Cool would be a “real asset” to the city.
Last summer’s schedule of shows at Convention Hall included Jay & The Americans, Dave Mason, The Lettermen, “Ricky Nelson Remembered” starring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson & The Stone Canyon Band, The Association and Gary Puckett.
In addition: Stockton’s Children’s Summer Playhouse in partnership with Greater Ocean City Theatre Company, children’s musical theater.
Convention Hall’s 2013 schedule include performances from Chad and Jeremy, Helen Reddy, Ronnie Spector, Christopher Cross, Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits and Manhattan Transfer.
