COURT HOUSE — Local anglers, it’s time to get the lines in the water and participate in one of the biggest spring fishing tournaments in Cape May County. Middle Township is kicking off its 10th Annual Middle Township Drum Fish Tournament with a Captain’s Meeting May 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Atkinson’s Tavern located on Route 9 in Cape May Court House.
This year’s tournament features two big days of fishing starting at Noon May 16 and ending at 2:00 p.m. May 17. If weather is an issue with the tournament, fishing dates will be held on May 17-18 instead. Prize amounts for the tournament will be based on the number of boats that are entered.
Final weigh-in for the tournament will be held at Smokey’s Marina in Reeds Beach May 17 from Noon-2:00 p.m.
Anglers who are interested in participating in the tournament can pick up an application at the Middle Township Municipal Clerk’s office; an application can be downloaded at www.middletownship.com. Additional information on the tournament is available by calling Suzanne Stocker at (609) 465-8722 or sstocker@middletownship.com.
Proceeds benefit the Middle Township Department of Recreation.
