By Sponsored Content

COURT HOUSE — Versatile student actors at Middle Township High School will switch from teacups and spoons to dancing shoes on one afternoon during their three performance run of the award-winning Broadway musical “The Secret Garden.”
On Sat. afternoon, March 1, starting at 12:30, the costumed cast will sponsor a fundraising tea on the balcony of the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. An hour and a half later at 2 they’ll be on the huge stage of The PAC for the second of three weekend performances of “‘The Secret Garden” which won three Tony awards for best featured actress in a musical (Daisy Eagan), best book of a musical and best scenic design. Playing the leading role of Mary Lennox in the high school production is Caroline Seitzinger. In other featured roles, under the direction of Deborah Jenkins Dalfonso, are Alyssa Sullivan, Zachery Peterson, Colin Milio, Jordan Severino, Brinley Edwards, Conner Wynn and David Cline.
Tea parties have a British flair, of course, and the students’ version is especially appropriate since the plot centers on an orphaned girl who becomes the ward of an uncle in England where she discovers a secret garden.
Those who attend the tea party will receive as a bonus, an opportunity to have their photos taken with members of the cast. The cost of the tea party is $5 for an adult with a child, and $3 for each additional person. For reservations for the party, call 465-1852, extension 5536 or e-mail hoggk@middltwp.k12.nj.us
“The Secret Garden” opens at The PAC on Friday night, Feb.28, with a performance also on Sat. night, March 1, both at 7, in addition to the Saturday matinee. Advance tickets are $10 for general admission, $9 for seniors and $8 for students. Prices increase on the days of performances to $12 general admission, $11 for seniors and $10 for students. Call 609-463-1924 for tickets.
