Middle Township High School Presents “Little Women”

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Civil War Era Massachusetts provides the setting for this year’s Middle Township High School musical, Little Women. The most recent musical done at Middle thus far, Little Women features a cast of strong women defying the world’s conventions and taking on the world, while minding the lessons of their mother of faith, charity, and love of family.
Opening on Broadway in 2005, Little Women, the musical, follows the saga of the March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—as they grow up in Civil War America. With a book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, the show offers all of the themes of love, charity, devotion, strength and family as Louisa May Alcott’s 1869 semi-autobiographical novel.
This year’s cast features Katie Risko in the leading role of “Jo March” with her sisters “Meg” (Shoshannah Kleinman), “Beth” (Ashley Badders, and “Amy” (Angel Saclayan), led by their mother, “Marmee” (Alyssa Sullivan) and “Aunt March” (Brinley Edwards). Their suitors and male leads include Conner Wynn as “Laurie,” Zachery Peterson as “Professor Bhaer,” Colin Milio as “John Brooke,” and Kevin O’Donnell as “Mr. Laurence.” Students began working on the show in early December and have been rehearsing nearly 20 hours a week. The show is produced by Kelley Hogg, directed by Deborah Jenkins with Marni McCann as assistant director, choreographed by Nancy Gibson, and accompanied by a live professional, pit orchestra directed by Scott Breiner.
Performances will be held at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center on March 1 at 7 p.m. and March 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $8 for students if purchased before Feb. 28. After that date, ticket prices increase by $2 per ticket. Tickets are available through the PAC box office (609)463-1924.
