Middle Performing Arts Center Announces Bookings to Christmas

COURT HOUSE — The Performing Arts Center of Middle Township has announced its list of professional shows for a six month period extending from late June to a few days before Christmas.
Included in the line-up are eight concerts by pianist Linda Gentille and the Jersey Shore Pops, and other performances by The Platters and singer Ron Gartner; the Bronx Wanderers with the Fabulous Grease Band; the New Jersey Ballet in its annual “Nutcracker” presentation; The Hit Men of Jersey Boys fame in a special holiday show, and “Christmas With The Rat Pack,” a holiday tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
In addition, there will be an array of community events including musical plays by talented local youngsters, dance productions, scholarship pageants and school happenings.
“There will hardly be a day or night when The PAC will not be in use for rehearsals, performances and other activities from late June to Dec. 21,” said Kay Aspell, the managing director of the 20-year-old state of the art facility.
The season begins on Sat. night, June 29, at 7:30 when Gentille returns from a world tour, including performances in China and Japan, to open her eight concert series here with her Jersey Pops Orchestra. On the same bill with her will be Irish tenor Colin Fitzmaurice and popular Middle Township vocalist Jaclyn Buckingham. Other pops concerts to follow include, July 6 at 7:30, “Stars and Stripes Forever,” in a tribute to great American composers; July 13 at 7:30, “Legends in Concert,” featuring Canadian singer Claude Eric; July 21, at 7 p.m., “ The Italian Tenor,” with Aaron Caruso; July 28, at 7 p.m., “The Swinging Sixties,” with Jim Yester, founding member of The Association; Aug. 4 at 7 p.m., “Classics Rock” with Jacklyn Buckingham and Frank Hampton, in a show that Gentille performs on cruise ships throughout the world; Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m., the music of Glenn Miller, and Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m.,”Sinatra and Friends,” with Peter Oprisko in a return engagement.
The dates for other PAC performances include October 19, The Platters with Ron Gartner; Nov. 16, The Bronx Wanderers with The Fabulous Grease Band; Nov. 24, ”The Nutcracker” by the New Jersey Ballet Company; Dec. 7 , “The Hit Men” and Dec. 14, “Christmas With The Rat Pack.”
Tickets may be reserved by calling 463-1924. The PAC is situated at 212 Bayberry Drive, Cape May Court House, one block east of exit 10 of the Garden State Parkway. There is free parking on the premises.
