Middle PAC to Show Acclaimed Indian Film

COURT HOUSE – The highly acclaimed and controversial Indian film, “Fire In The Blood,” will be shown on April 28, at 7 p.m. in the “Monday Night at the Movies” series at the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township.
“Fire In the Blood” tells the story of how western pharmaceutical companies and governments blocked access to low-cost AIDS drugs for African and other nations after 1996, allegedly causing more than ten million unnecessary deaths. It also recounts the efforts of a group of people who fought back. It has been described as “an intricate tale of medicine, monopoly and malice.”
The documentary, presented by the ProMedia Group of Middle Township, is narrated by Academy Award-winning actor, William Hurt, and features commentary by former president, Bill Clinton and other prominent international figures. Directed by Dylan Mohan Gray, the 2013 film was shot in eight nations on four continents, and set a record for the longest theatrical run of any non-fiction movie in Indian history. It was the first non-fiction feature film from India to be released in the United States or England, and has been honored at many film festivals throughout the world.
The Hollywood Reporter’s film critic, David Rooney called the film, “a powerful documentary that demands to be seen by as wide as an audience as possible.”
Admission for the showing on the PAC’s big screen is $8. The Performing Arts Center is situated at 212 Bayberry Drive, Cape May Court House, one mile east of the Garden State Parkway. There is free parking on the premises.
