COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Performing Arts Center on-going film series “Monday Night at The Movies” in conjunction with ProMedia Group signed a statement of support confirming support for citizen soldiers of the national guard and reserve. The Statement of Support For the Guard and Reserve was presented during last night’s showing of the film Free The Mind. The documentary is about the efforts of Professor Richard Davidson, one of the world’s leading neuroscientists, who applies meditation methods for treatment of depression and anxiety. The results of Davidson’s studies at the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, are portrayed in Free the Mind as they are applied to treating PTSD in returning Iraqi vets and children with ADHD.
After the film, guest speaker, SPC Edward Afandor, a NJ Army National Guardsman who was a 9-11 first responder, spoke about his experiences on that day and how it contributed to his own PTSD. He now carries the message of hope to others who experience it and is actively involved with the Wounded Warrior Project. Ed brought with him his service dog Arnie who stayed with him dutifully throughout the film. After the film ProMedia Group was presented with the Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve by Donna Clementoni, Employer Outreach Director in NJ representing the Department of Defense. “We are pleased and honored to be able to bring this message of hope for those with PTSD through our film series” said Carol Struett, partner at ProMedia Group.
Monday Night at the Movies is a film series that offers people in this region current documentaries. “These films range in topic and are current, award winning films. It’s the only opportunity to view these types of film on the big screen in this area” said Struett.
