COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Performing Arts Center will once again begin ticket sales for the Jersey Shore Pops 2014 Summer Concert Series. Tickets will be available for walk up purchases for any of the 4 shows beginning June 2, 2014.
Tickets will continue to be available online through the ticketing service Brown Paper Tickets. Minimal service fees are charged for online ticketing and are very reasonable compared to Ticketmaster and other high priced services. Season tickets sales have been extended due to popular demand until June 22, 2014 and are available online or by telephone only.
The Jersey Shore Pops Orchestra hit a milestone this spring as it doubled its season ticket subscription to their popular Summer Concert Series. The orchestra, which was founded in 2009 by conductor and pianist Linda Gentille decided to change its ticketing system to increase season ticket sales which are the lifeblood of all orchestras. The president of the orchestra, Dr. Nick Holland decided to hold off on individual ticket sales to give the prime seats to season ticket buyers. Holland explains, “I attended several seminars on how to increase an orchestra season subscription with our conductor Linda Gentille, and together we decided to follow other popular orchestra formulas such as The Philly Pops. By holding off on selling individual tickets, we doubled our membership offering special seating with VIP receptions which follow the concerts. We went from 100 season members, to over 200 now this season and still have 2 more weeks to go! This experiment proved to be highly successful and we will continue this with the 2015 season in which we hope to again double our membership.”
The orchestra has priced their 4 concert Summer Concert Season very competitively at $100 for the 4 Saturday evening concerts. In addition to admission to the concerts, the season pass ticket includes admission to the VIP After Glow Events” at both the Avalon Golf Course and The Bellevue Tavern which includes complimentary finger food as well as cash bar. These VIP events have become a big hit with concert goers and set it apart from many other concerts in the area. The opening night reception also includes complimentary wine or champagne ( 1 glass per person)
The Jersey Shore Pops 2014 Summer Concert Series will include 4 concerts with a focus on variety entertainers from around the United States and Canada including the following:
July 12 at 7:00 p.m. Mark Preston of The Letterman
July 19 at 7:00 p.m. Sinatra Sizzles
Aug. 9, at 7:00 p.m. Broadway on Tap
Aug. 23 at 7:00 p.m. Great Balls of Fire, Legends of Piano
The series will open at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center July 12 at 7:00 p.m. with Mark Preston, formerly of The Lettermen. The young man from South Bend began his career as an actor before launching into the musical arena. Preston’s unique talent preceded him again, and he was asked twice to join the world famous recording group, The Lettermen. With the second invitation, Preston accepted and spent 10 years with the group. During that time, Preston recorded several CDs. The group’s most recent recording “New Directions 2010” with the Les Brown Jr. Orchestra, was put forward for 3 Grammy Nominations. In 2001, Preston’s contributions to The Lettermen were recognized when the group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame. The late, great, Tennessee Ernie Ford was right when he spoke of Mark Preston. Today his comment would be “Cock your pistols, there IS no stopping this talented singer”…
The orchestra has changed the start time of the concerts from its previous 7:30 p.m. start time to 7:00 p.m. because of the popular demand by season ticket holders.This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The funds were administered by the Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission, under the authority of the County Library Commission, for the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

There is convenient and free parking at the facility and the PAC does have limited handicapped seating.
