TOWNSENDS INLET — New for summer 2010 is the T. I. Civic Center’s “Mermaid Of The Sea Festival” featuring nautical items and coastal art Sat. Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Townsends Inlet Civic Center, 138 85th St. in Sea Isle.
Vendors and neighbors are wanted for this event, which includes an indoor nautical sidewalk sale and auction, featuring nautical items, coastal art, home decor as well as crafts, jewelry and more.
A Mermaid costume contest for girls ages 2-10 and Jr. King Neptune costume contest for boys ages 2-10 will be held at 9 a.m. Great prizes will be awarded for the best Jr. King Neptune and mermaid costume. An auction at noon; Sea Shell contest winners.
Come and see the 20- foot King Neptune statue and get your official Mermaid Of The Sea T- Shirt or T I Civic Center’s famous homemade Sand Castle Cake. Sponge Bob Square Pants will be there with giveaways for the kids.
Table space is now available at $ 30 for a three by eight-foot table and two chairs. Reserve your table space now. Applications are being accepted on a first come first serve basis. All proceeds benefit The Townsends Inlet Civic Center Restoration Fund.
