AVALON – The following are the events to be held at the Avalon Free Public Library in May.

Story Time
Join us for stories, songs and crafts for children of all ages.

Creative Writing
Receive tips and feedback on poetry, memoirs, short stories, articles, and books. Record an audio version and share your story. Registration is requested by calling 609-967-7155 or stopping by the circulation desk.

3:15 to 4:45 p.m.
Lego Club
The Library will supply the Legos, you provide the imagination! Get creative with a team or work on your own. Please leave your Legos at home so that you don’t lose your favorite pieces. All ages are welcome.

iPad Workshop: Pinterest, Instagram, and Steller

This class will give you an overview of Cloud computing options like iCloud, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Participants will look in detail at Dropbox vs. Apple iCloud to understand the difference. Apple Computer Class- Using the Four Main Principles of Design
This class will introduce you to the four main principles of design and how they apply to everything you will ever create. We will look at how the principles of design can be applied to PowerPoint presentations, postcards, fliers, business cards and even websites. For the hands-on portion, we will create a flier that will engage your audience and emphasize your message. We will talk in detail about how to select colors, images, and fonts for our projects. If you have a flier or handout you want to improve, please bring it with you.

The Avalon Library received 5 stars in Library Journal’s national rating of public libraries, based on statistical performance data collected by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Avalon Library is one of only three libraries in New Jersey to receive the 5-Star designation six times since 2009.
