CAPE MAY — Lt. Commander Scott Rae from TRACEN Cape May is to be the featured speaker at the Oct. 10 Harborside Chat!
The Nature Center’s very popular Harborside Chats returned to the Nature Center last Oct. 3 with a visit by the Jersey Cape Beekeepers Association.
Oct. 10 will be your opportunity to learn what goes on behind the gate at the end of Pennsylvania Avenue when Lt. Commander Scott Rae, USCG Regimental Commander, is our guest speaker. You won’t want to miss the Commander’s presentation about the history and mission of this important facility. TRACEN Cape May is the ONLY training facility for Coast Guard recruits in the nation and the Commander will also touch on recruit training. This is a rare opportunity to learn about this important aspect of our Cape May Community.
Rock and Roll comes to the Center on October 17th when the legendary “Philly Bill” Culp of “WIBBAGE” radio 94.3 will be our special guest. You may remember that during this years’ Harbor Fest, “Philly Bill” did a live broadcast from the deck of the Nature Center. For those who grew up in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s WIBBAGE radio 94.3 has established itself as our highway back to the “good-old-days.”

Oct. 24 kicks off New Jersey Audubon’s Birding Weekend and Vice President Dale Rosselet will be the featured speaker.
Oct. 31 what better than our very own Jersey Devil. Come prepared to share your own tale of horror about Jersey’s very own winged terror.
Nov. 7 Jeff Stewart from Cape May’s Whale Watcher and new owner of the famous Brandywine Lighthouse will share his vision for the light and the challenges that lay ahead.
Nov. 14: It was a tough summer to be a dolphin. Join us on the 14th as Sara from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center will update us on what has been happening offshore with our dolphins, harbor seals and sharks.
Nov. 21: The holidays are upon us. Is your wine rack ready? Come out as the Cape May Winery guides us on what to pair with our holiday menus.
Remember, all presentations begin at 6:00 in the Education Building at 1600 Delaware Avenue in Cape May. Light refreshments will be served. There is no admission cost, but your generous donations to help with the renovation of the Charlotte Todd Education Hall will be greatly appreciated.
