Lower Branch Library Offers Portrait Painting Class

VILLAS – The Cape May County Library is delighted to offer a “Portrait Painting in Oils Class” under the tutelage of Cheryl Crews, an instructor of the arts. Classes will be held for six weeks from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, beginning January 8 at the Lower Branch Library. The library is located at 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
This course is for ambitious artists who seek to learn classical techniques and a disciplined traditional approach to portraits. Hard work is required, but the reward is an exceptional one.
Class instructor Cheryl Crews is a dedicated local artist, art teacher, art activist, and a familiar dynamic force at regional museums, art centers and institutions, known for her public murals. Currently, she is on the faculty of Atlantic Cape Community College, lead teacher of Lower Township’s Youth Art Program through the Center for Community Arts, founding president of the Aquarian Project and writer/illustrator for “Sketches of Down Jersey” for the Down Jersey Magazine.
Participants are required to bring their own materials. The materials list will be provided on the Cape May County Library website at www.cmclibrary.org.
