Local Artists Share Eco-Friendly Skills

Local artists will demonstrate their use of eco-friendly materials on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. –3 p.m. at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery located in the West End Garage, 484 W. Perry St.
The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery is a group of 25 local artists that have joined together to showcase and sell their work and educate the public about their art. The Gallery is open from 10-6, Thursday- Sunday. Please call for extended holiday hours 609-770-8261.
The demonstrations are free to the public and children are welcome.
Betty Campbell will demonstrate the nature of woodturning on a lathe from 10:30-11:30 and again from 1:30 – 2:30 (weather permitting). Campbell has used many local trees to turn bowls, plates, candleholders, clocks and pens.
Mixed media artist, Jody Swope will be working on one of her driftwood creations from 11:30-noon. Swope uses natural found objects from the beach along with other recycled materials to create whimsical mermaids, fish and fairy houses.
Fiber artist, Mary Stewart recycles wool clothing by felting it and creating wonderful bags embellished with needle felting.
Stewart will demonstrate the art of needle felting from noon – 12:30 p.m. At 12:30 – 1:30 and again from 2:30 – 3, Goshen Gourds will demonstrate various techniques such as cutting, dying and wood burning to turn a natural gourd into a unique work of art.
